Part 1 of Goal Setting: Wall of Dreams

Nothing gets done when we just sit around, complain about life, blame others and so on.  We want to be somebody but we are not doing anything about it.  So it is time to set proper goals.

Goals can be set easily by just staring blankly and let your mind take you to where you want to be.  Just like dreaming.  I remember when I was around 15 years old, my eldest sister started talking about what thesis is all about.  She said that it was a requirement for her to graduate.

Making Time for What Makes You Happy

Over the course of periods of time, we tend to lose what really makes us happy.  It is because we try to live a life as normal as possible.  We tend to just stick what is normal and forget about those things that we really enjoyed doing.

Back when I was in college, what I really enjoyed was listening to music.  It got to the point that I collected CD's (there were MP3's back then but internet was really slow), and CD's are really cool when you see them lined up in your shelves.

Evaluating Your Core Beliefs

One of the things that can change your life is to evaluate your core beliefs.  These will determine the result of your actions and success.  It can define the purpose of your life.

I remember when I was so down with problems; I always tend to say negative things about myself and what is around me.  My take is that whatever happens to anyone, the initial reaction is to blame the external forces.

Proactive: A Hard Habit to Make

It has been more than 2 months since I last wrote anything in my blog.  I have been extremely busy and forgot to do what I enjoy. Writing.  But during the time that I haven't been blogging, I got a chance to read great stuffs that was shared to me by my Dad. He shared the "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey. The book highlights 3 important parts, the first 3 habits are connected within us, the next 3 habits are connected to things around us and the last is a habit to keep everything sharp. It is an overall approach to self awareness and improvement.

Why Do We Feel Uneasy During First Meetings?: Tips How to Prepare Before First Meetings

Imagine you step-in to a room that is more or less 20 people that you don't know.  The first instinct you will feel is "where can you be without anyone noticing you".  Well, let us face it, we are all shy at first because we are inside of what appears a foreign place with a lot of people that you don't know.  Even a bad facial impression that you are trying to hide counts.

It happens during gatherings, meetings, trainings, small talks, or even a job orientation.  Whenever it is going to happen let the uneasiness feeling takeover for just a few moments and try to regain composure while your uneasiness is subsiding.  I know it is hard but think about it as "what are you going to do while you are wating for the uncomfortable feeling to go away?"  Then best answer is to strategize.

Not all of us will be gifted about this but trying is for everyone, because if you are not going to try it then don't expect a result that you will like.

Coming Strong: Why is it a Bad Idea to Act when You are Angry

A month ago, I was reading an article about a boy who punched a bully out of anger.  And it ends up the bully died due to brain hemorrhage.  It was just a single punch.  It must have been a punch that has strong force of anger.

As you can see, an irreversible event may happen if we act out in anger.  I am not saying to be always passive, but you have to think about what will be the end result if anger will get the best of you.  After all, what is the worst thing that can happen if you think first before acting?

I had experienced when I acted with anger and end up feeling regretful.  And it tasted bad.  It feels like, I want to turn back time and act differently.

Greed: How to Avoid and Why We Should

This is going to be a series about the Seven Deadly Sin to help you avoid doing it by understanding what they are and the consequences.
Greed is everywhere and even those who have live a pious life have done some greed in their life.  It is our human side that with proper understanding leads to proper handling of behavior.

That is why I believe that sins and ignorance have links, one way or the other.  And also knowledge and sins are also linked.

I will try my best to write this as clear as possible for everyone, including me to be enlightened.

Greed is wanting more than we need.  It is really hard because needs and wants have a tendency to switch places or very hard to determine which is the want and the need.

Good or Bad: What You Need to Know About Yourself

"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." - Sirius Black, (Harry Potter and The Order of Phoenix)

I was driving one day to a place that is unknown for me.  I usually get directions from someone that knows the place, get a map from Google but very seldom just follow the signs and try to widow myself to the road and end up getting the right directions.  On the road just before you reach (I think it is called) a fork road, this lets you choose which directions.  In most cases the two paths leads you to two different directions and some leads you to same direction (I guess it might be the other way is thru the city proper that goes and meet the same path at the end with the other direction).  Either way, you will make a choice, right?  This makes me always think about the quote that I place above.  Because certain situation have a fork path.  That have either the same result or have two different results.  It is really only a matter of choosing which to one to act with.  Either your good side or the bad side.

But why we are always getting caught up with something that suppose to be simple with something complex?  It is called life challenges and we really need to choose which behavior we need to act upon.  As always you want to be on the right side, right?  No one wants to be the bad guy in a story.

Evolve: How to Adapt with Our Changing World.

The world is fast changing as we know it.  What we may know today may not be relevant after a few years.  What you are good about this day, may be will not be any good to anyone after a few years.  World is changing and evolving, so as our society, culture and everything else under the sun.

That is why you may notice a change of taste, for example, music.  You may remember when you first learn to appreciate music that is being played on the radio.  And after years past, you will sound like a grown up who tells you when you pump up the volume for your favorite song, "Turn the volume down."

Things change, and so as the world around us.  What don't change, I guess is our so called ability to adapt.  Adapting is one of the character of humans that have been unique from other creatures.  Yeah, some creature as you may see from educational television stations that they know how to adapt.  But not like us.

Fear, As We Know It: 5 Ways to Overcome Fear

Note: This Blog is not a spoiler, representing and promoting the upcoming movie After Earth.

Earlier this month, I was watching videos on YouTube just to relax my mind.  Then I came across this trailer by a movie that will be showing this June.  After Earth, from what I know is a remake and a possible book.  It stars father and son Will and Jaden Smith, about survival that is set in the future, somewhat 1000 years from now.

There was this line during the trailer that was voice over by Will "Fear does not exists, it is just a product of our thoughts, it is a choice.  But danger does exists." and he said something being prepared about the danger out there.  My apologies if the quote is not precise but hopefully I am not messing the idea.

An Apple Tree Won't Grow Mangoes: Why is it Important to Establish What You Want

During this time where distractions are unavoidable, it is hard to keep up with what you really want to do in life.  If you start early and know your direction, then probably whatever goal you have in your mind will be achievable but sometimes when we are on our way to going where we want to be, along the way there are things we also want to do on the side.

How to be a Gentleman to Your Lady: International Women’s Day Awareness

March 8 marks the International Women’s day.  We are all making efforts to stop crime against women and children, but somehow our question as ordinary citizens is “Where can we start?”  Some suggest that we educate our little girls as early as we can that they have rights, they are free and whatever they do and say matters.  That is really a good idea, since making them feel that they are important gives them a sense of pride within.  Because in many cases women that are abuse inside or outside their house, they tend to be silent about violence against them.  But if we can put the seed to their brain while they are little, that they have rights as women and they can fight for it, then there is no stopping to end any related violence or crime against women.

Child, Brother, Husband, Parent: The Cycle of Life

As we grow up and grow old, we tend to forget our responsibilities.  There are factors to answer why.  Naming few are stress, lack of time, and distractions.

I love my family.  We all do.  Problem is that when you get old, things can get slow or fast.  Slow, when you are waiting for someone when you have an available time.  I work during night shifts, so tendency is that I could not find time to spend it with my family.  Because either they are already resting when I am up and when they are available, I am the one that can’t provide time.  Fast, in the sense that while you are waiting for something to happen, when it happens you can’t seize the moment and it just happened without you feeling the joy.

Focus: Why is it Important and How Anyone Can Improve

"Always remember, your focus determines your reality." - Qui-Gon Jinn (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace)

In a world where distraction is unavoidable, focusing is one thing that is hard to do these days.  We have laptops, tablets, smart phones and all sort of technologies buffering our way.  And it seems that there is no stopping distractions, we need to learn how to somehow equally divide our attention to what matters to our lives.  Imagine what you can do with just less time when you allow yourself to give 100 percent to something that you really have to do.  Even if you have a lot in your hands for one day if you start to learn how to focus,  you will be able to do all of them, or if not you will eventually get there.

Respect Does Not Come in a Plate. Ways of Earning Respect.

I love it when I talk to old people.  It is easier to talk with them, you can see honesty in their eyes when they talk and they seldom use words that you don't get these days.  They must have been thinking that their days is about to come that is why you will feel the honest stories.  And the words that they use perhaps is beautiful because they have learned that talking with sense is better.  I mean they have come far when it comes to experience and they know being disrespectful to others will always have a bad ending and you will feel that once you listen and hear what they have to say.

How to Plan Weekends: Guide to Making The Most Out of Your Off

I really don't know why weekend is the most anticipated days of our lives.  Even when it is only monday, you will start greeting your office-mates, "How was your weekend?" "Wow that is great, are you planning the same thing next weekend?" or sometimes "What, why didn't you ask if I can come?"  Things like that.  But as a human being, it is not really bad to look forward to Saturdays and Sundays.  It is not a sign that you don't like your job.  It is just a sign that you want to put the breaks so you can pedal the gas before Monday comes.

The South Beach Diet Theory

I came across with this type of diet program because I have an upcoming important event that I need to look and feel good.  Not that I don't feel good about myself, but of course it is a one time event and It will be better if I am at my top by the time it happened.

The Brain Tapper: Overview of Using The Six Thinking Hats Theory and How to Organize Your Thoughts

The Six Thinking Hats was written by Edward de Bono.  I bought this book out of curiosity and really not knowing what was the inside of it.  I thought that it talks about a certain color that separates individuals base on what their favorite color is.  Bottom line is that I bought the book thinking that when I get to the register is that I will be looking cool, intelligent and deep.  I can never forget that day and the lessons learned from the book.

Experts: The Human Side

With a slight miscalculation, everything changes
With most of what is happening these days, a slight miscalculation can change everything.
What separates experts from others is that they practice at first the basics all the way up to the advance level.  And when it comes to mistakes, they will try to lessen their probability of making one.
Because if they do, they know the aftermaths.

Foresight

When we do a routine, we usually know what we need to do to get a task done without even thinking the steps.  It is like, when you brush your teeth.  You don't go, step one gargle, step two wash toothbrush, and so on until you are done.  You don't do that because it is already printed to your brain what to do.  I guess, it will take me a lot of blogs about foresight but for now just a general blog about this and I hope I can share more.

Do What You Love to Do

I was browsing for a good article to read and found “Coffee”.  I am a Big Fan of Coffee, (Not that big in a sense that I would buy a Chain), but I love drinking it.  The funny thing though, research have found time to know that Java Lovers is not at risk of disease as oppose to those that don’t drink more than 3 cups a day.
